ATHENS, Ga. - No. 22 Mizzou Volleyball (24-5, 15-2 SEC) took care of business in its 2016 regular season road finale, sweeping Georgia (25-20, 25-17, 25-19) in straight sets. The Tigers return home on Saturday, Nov. 26, with their regular season finale against Tennessee. A win against the Volunteers will clinch Mizzous second SEC Championship in the past four seasons.Sophomore Alyssa Munlyn (Suwanee, Ga.) entered the history books again on Wednesday evening, following her nine kills on .818 hitting. It marked Munlyns second match this season of hitting .800 or higher. Additionally, her outstanding effort against Georgia is the sixth-highest single-match hitting percentage in Mizzou Volleyball history.Junior Courtney Eckenrode (The Woodlands, Texas) was deadly on offense and setting the ball, posting four kills on .600 hitting and 35 assists, respectively. Her efficient play at setter led Mizzou to 45 total kills on .424 hitting. It marked the Tigers fourth match of hitting .400 or higher this year. The Tigers and Bulldogs exchanged points throughout much of the opening set, as both teams were faring well offensively. Mizzou held a slim late 19-18 advantage, before ending the set on a 6-2 scoring run. The Tigers ran a smooth offense to kick off the evening, posting 15 kills on .448 hitting in first set action.Munlyn paced Mizzous offense in the opening set, recording four kills with zero attack errors. Redshirt junior Kira Larson (Fargo, N.D.) also shined, finishing with three kills and three digs. The second set belonged to senior Carly Kan (Honolulu), who made a series of outstanding defensive plays and four kills on .500 hitting. Following a sensational first set by Mizzous offense, it one-upped itself in the second set with 20 additional kills on .516 hitting.Redshirt junior Melanie Crow (Wildwood, Mo.) was one of four Tigers to hit .400 or higher in the second set. Overall, Crow posted a team-high six kills on .400 hitting in the set.Mizzou closed the match with another strong effort in the third set. The Tigers 3-0 victory over the Bulldogs marked their 13th sweep this season and their 10th sweep in SEC play.TOP TIGERSMunlyn: 9 kills on .818 hitting Larson: 8 kills on .615 hitting Kan: 7 kills on .375 hitting and 18 digs UP NEXTThe Tigers close their regular season on Saturday, Nov. 26, against Tennessee. Ryan Garbutt had a goal and two assists as Dallas snapped a six-game losing streak with a 5-2 victory over the Edmonton Oilers on Tuesday night.Toby Roland-Jones, the Middlesex seamer, has been handed his first England call-up and Gary Ballance has been recalled for the first Test against Pakistan at Lords, which starts from July 14. Injuries have kept Ben Stokes and James Anderson on the sidelines while Jos Buttler has not earned a recall.Roland-Jones, 28, a tall seam bowler, averages 25.17 in first-class cricket and has been on Englands radar for a few seasons. Yesterday he played a key role in a notable Middlesex victory over Yorkshire at Scarborough as he clubbed a quickfire unbeaten 79 and took three wickets in the second innings to finish with six in the match. Overall, he has 30 wickets at 29.06 in the County Championship this season; in 2015 he took 48 wickets at 27.04.Anderson has not recovered sufficiently from his shoulder injury while the selectors want Stokes to play more cricket after his return to action from knee surgery - he has yet to resume bowling for Durham although Trevor Bayliss hinted he may have been included as a batsman.Like always, selection is very opinionated, and they could have picked him but the lack of cricket in the last few weeks has meant theyve gone that way, Alastair Cook, the England captain, said. Hes just back from a long time out of the game.It has been confirmed that Joe Root will move up to No. 3 - something Bayliss has pushed for - to fill the spot vacated by Nick Compton which means Ballance, who was dropped during last years Ashes series, will return in the middle order. Ballance struck his first century of the season against Middlesex this week - he is averaging 33.64 in the Championship - and has fought off competition from the heavily tipped Scott Borthwick who averages 58.50 this season with three centuries. He hasnt changed a huge amounnt in terms of technique, just keep evolving it to keep it in as good a position as you can.dddddddddddd What he does have is that hard edge, Cook said.On Roots promotion, Cook added: Its a conversation weve had over the last week, its the right thing to do, hes our best player, and its quite an Australian thing to do. Theres no reason why he wont score same amount of runs as at No. 4.After the one-day series against Sri Lanka, Bayliss spoke highly of Buttlers credentials and suggested he could return to the Test side as a batsman despite not having played first-class cricket since he was dropped in the UAE last year, but in the end that lack of red-ball cricket has been a deciding factor. It also means that Bairstow will retain the wicketkeeping gloves. Those guys and Jason Roy, Tom Westley, Scott Borthwick were all discussed as very good options, Cook said. The argument with Jos is he hasnt played red-ball cricket for a long time, you do need to know your method.Jake Ball, the Nottinghamshire seamer, who was in each squad for the Sri Lanka series retains his place despite an elbow niggle and will likely compete for a spot in the final XI with Roland-Jones.Its disappointing that Jimmy hasnt made it but Jakes in the squad, hes started the season in fantastic form, Stuart Broad said. Hes had a slight elbow niggle but hes learnt a lot about his bowling in last 18 months and hes ready to make that step upHes got physical attributes, he moves the ball both ways, comes round the wicket to the left-handers and hits the ball harder. You cant make judgements about temperament, but hes taken wickets on TV which is a good sign. ' ' '
