OXFORD, Miss. -- Mississippis football season, which has been mostly miserable, hit a new low last weekend. The Rebels (5-6, 2-5 Southeastern Conference) played arguably their worst game of the season in a 38-17 road loss against Vanderbilt. Now they must win the Egg Bowl against Mississippi State (4-7, 2-5) at home on Saturday to become bowl eligible for the fifth straight season under coach Hugh Freeze. Its a set of circumstances scarcely imagined three months ago, when the Rebels entered the season as the No. 11 team in the country and had aspirations of an SEC championship.Freeze acknowledged on Monday that hes got a team thats beat up physically and mentally. He also said thats no excuse when playing against your in-state rival.Weve got to find out who the warriors are for this week, Freeze said. Thats who weve got to play and get ready to go.All eyes will be on Ole Miss freshman quarterback Shea Patterson, who will likely make his third career start. The 6-foot-2, 200-pound Patterson was forced into action two weeks ago when starter Chad Kelly went down with a season-ending knee injury. Patterson was impressive in his debut against Texas A&M, throwing for 338 yards and two touchdowns in a 29-28 come-from-behind win.But he couldnt duplicate that success against the Commodores, completing just 20 of 42 passes for 222 yards and two touchdowns while also running for 51 yards.Freeze said the problems werent all Pattersons fault -- citing several drops by Ole Miss receivers -- but that his quarterback was also suffering through the growing pains that many freshmen experience. He said Patterson missed on a few potential touchdown throws and also had a tendency to take off running when a little more patience could have resulted in a bigger play. Its great that we have some extra time this week with classes not in session, that he can get some extra film, Freeze said. So we can make sure he feels great about the understanding of what were trying to do this Saturday. There are also questions about who is going to be available to play around Patterson. The teams leading receiver, tight end Evan Engram, is questionable because of a hamstring injury. Offensive linemen Robert Conyers and Sean Rawlings have been battling injuries for several weeks and their availability will be decided later this week.Even with all those problems, Ole Miss is still about a touchdown favorite on Saturday. The Rebels are playing at home and Mississippi State has its own set of problems, giving up a combined 109 points over the last two weeks in losses to Alabama and Arkansas. The home team has won 10 of the last 12 games in the series. Its our job to get them ready for this game regardless if we have one win, five wins or 10 wins, Freeze said. We know this game is going to be a battle. It always is.---More AP college football: www.collegefootball.ap.org and https://twitter.com/AP-Top25 .Alexander Radulov Jersey .Y. -- The Buffalo Sabres have recalled forward Kevin Porter and defenceman Chad Ruhwedel from the minors as part of a five-player roster shuffle made by the NHLs worst team. Martial has six goals in the Premier League for United Asked by Sky Sports Geoff Shreeves if people misinterpret his character due to his body language on the pitch, Martial said: I have always been that way, and peoples opinions will not change it, but one must know that when I fail to score a goal I do get angry with myself.I have always been like that and I have been told that quite a lot. Its true that everything just went very quick [when he signed for United], but I kept a cool head and focused on playing football. When Shreeves met Sterling and Martial Geoff Shreeves gives us the insight into his interviews with Anthony Martial and Raheem Sterling I have worked hard for it and today I am reaping the reward.Manager Louis van Gaal has irked some Manchester United supporters by fielding Martial on the left flank for much of the campaign. The Frenchman insists his mellow persona does not always stick He has six goals in the Premier League, four of which have come from starting on the wide positions, and while Martial insists he is a striker before anything else, he is happy to play wherever the Dutchman wants him.Foremost I am a striker, it doesnt bother me at all which position I play, when I am on the pitch I just focus on helping the team thats all. I just want to help the team, and when I score I am happier, I am a striker and thats how it goes.Martial knows a thing or two about hefty price tags, having moved from Lyon to Monaco for £5m at the age of just 17. His move to the Premier League carried more pressure, but the French international says he has relished the challenge in the division, and has nothing but praise for its physicality and competitiveness. Martials £36m transfer from Monaco to United in the summer was a shock to many The Premier League is more physically demanding than Ligue 1. I love English football, its the best in the world in my oppinion, and I hope to stay here for many years to come.ddddddddddddIts true that the atmosphere here is quite different from the one in France, people live and breathe football here, and thats what I like, every footballer wants to play in the Premier League. Is Martial better out wide? Louis van Gaal has been criticised for using Anthony Martial wide, but what do the stats tell us? In France its easy to know which team is going to win the game, where as in England anywhere you play, you know its going to be difficult.I think it made me realise how physically strong I am, I wasnt aware of it while playing for Monaco, as I wasnt playing consistently. I think the manager believes in me and I make sure I look after myself as well as my diet in order to be fit for games. United go to rivals Manchester City on Super Sunday looking to go to within a point of Manuel Pellegrinis side in the race for the top four. The Champions League places looked unlikely for Van Gaals side just weeks ago, but Manchester Citys drop in form has given them a lifeline with just under a quarter of the season remaining.
